Western European weather is moderated by the gulf stream. Our west coast, Calf., Oregon and Washington have great weather and a/c isn’t needed as much as it is in the rest of the country. It’s a matter of geography and climate patterns...and the cost of electricity.

I’m kinda late to this, but, Dave, your comment about Oregon being cool seems funny in light of the fact that we’ve had a string of 100 degree+ days for a week, and today it was 108!
