It is as if Trump has assumed the role of interim CEO of USA,Inc., is taking control and looking for results right now. He is not waiting to be elected. There is absolutely no one effectively challenging him.

If I am not mistaken, you have posted this same idea several times on FR. And ... it is a good one. He is doing what leaders do. He is taking complete control -- over the media, the Republican primary, the national "conversation". And in all cases, he is shaping events to favor himself (and the interests of those living in USA, Inc.).

I like that, a good descriptor that fits. There's a power vacuum in this nation - he's stepped in to it. All the branches of the federal government - and some select state and local governments - are flat out dysfunctional. We're under a Regime that is focused on its own narrow agendas to pursue, stopping only long enough at times to give the citizens a very public F.U. in our faces(the half-mast flag flap being a recent example), courts and a Congress that have inflicted one unpopular enabling act after another upon an increasingly rebellious populace, NO actual opposition against the lawless inequities that rain down upon the citizens on a daily basis, and those who claim to be any opposition are either poltroons or are in on the game, looking to secure and protect a slice of the proceedings for themselves. The "consent of the governed" has gone dangerously thin, due to the solidifying view that the federal government is rogue and therefore illegitimate. Nobody's been plainly in the citizen's corner, being effective on their behalf, and people are resenting it. Trump comes along, grabs the bully pulpit and runs with it. And here we are. It is a game changer and am interested to see where this goes.
