Donald Trump Is A Plutocrat Populist From Hell (HuffPo)
The Huffington Post ^ | 7/22/2016 | Zach Carter

Yes, Trump's presidential campaign is a racist clownshow. And no, polls from July 2015 don't say very much about who will be president... But there's more to Trump's burgeoning popularity than immigrant-bashing alone. He's running as a full-blown plutocrat populist, and populism is, well, popular -- especially after a grinding recession. That should be concerning to his 2016 opponents, since the platform Trump has outlined on the trail has a long and successful history in American politics.

"All I want to do is make us rich, save your Social Security, [and] stop having everyone rip us off!" Trump said to cheers...

(snip)

Even when Trump makes the standard politician's plea to rise above petty politics, he's channelling nationalism rather than a centrist call for bipartisanship.

(snip)

Smart Democratic strategists have long worried that a savvy Republican would tap into voter outrage over the 2008 bank bailouts and take back the populist mantle. They probably didn't expect to see it from a real estate billionaire, but history has shown Trump's policy brew can be politically potent. Democrats were essentially invincible from 1932 to 1964, when they pushed hardline populist economic policies, tough-guy nationalist foreign policy...

But the voters who jumped to the Republican Party have always had a somewhat uneasy relationship with GOP's bankers-and-brokers-first economic agenda, and Trump has a real opportunity to pick up votes that his opponents won't seek out for fear of alienating their billionaire backers.

Trump is essentially a Democrat from the 1950s, wrapped in the persona of a Republican from the 1920s. Even if he's just trying to sell some books, that'll do the trick.

If Trump is a democrat from the 50’s, what are the republicans?

If you’d have gone further you would have seen that his justification was because Trump has vowed to look out for American interests. The racism charge is clearly fallacious but he then moves onto “nationalism” before tying together the good economic policy of the 40s and 50s with (you guessed it) racism, and saying this is what we’ll get with Trump.

Donald Trump Is A Plutocrat Populist From Hell (HuffPo)
_____________________________________________________________

WHOA! Hold the phone! Whassup? Just days ago, the Huffington Post said they were no longer dealing with Trump’s candidacy for the Presidency; they would only comment on him in the “Entertainment” section. So, someone tell me; is young Mr. Zach Carter the Entertainment writer for the HuffPo? I think not. That Liberal rag is fixated on Donald Trump because he has them shared scitless.

Well I can’t say they are from Mars, so let’s go with Venus, or possibly Uranus ;)

Notice how patriotism is now nationalism - sorta like Nazism?

Yes, just like 1st amendment rights are racism and homophobia.

Good article. First time I’ve visited HuffPo’s Entertainment site. I may check it out again sometime.

I’m thinking that you forgot the sarcasm symbol (/s). They say it’s the Entertainment Section, but, it’s the same ol’ Political-style article. Hell, they could have put it in the Sports Section, if those sissies and girly-boys have a Sports Section; it’s still a political hit-piece. DON’T LET UP DONALD; THEY’RE SCARED AS HELL.

Aha! The “racist” card is being played. Someone on this forum posted earlier inquiring how Trump would react to the racist angle. I hope this gets some traction (”Trump is a racist”) because I would like to hear how Trump will retaliate.

"If Trump is a democrat from the 50’s, what are the republicans?"

According to the article, Trump is a '20s republican. If that includes Cal Coolidge, count me in!

A balanced budget, a guy who followed the Constitution, and revered it, presided over a huge booming economy, plus he kept his fat yapper shut most of the time.

If I was Trump I'd say: "Check my record. I'm not a racist. I'm not a "rapist" either. Check the democrats for that. They're experts."

“Smart Democratic strategists have long worried that a savvy Republican would tap into voter outrage over the 2008 bank bailouts and take back the populist mantle. “

Maybe, somewhat. But what REALLY SCARES THEM is that a “savvy Republican” would tap into voter outrage about OPEN BORDERS and lock up the White Vote (hence my tag-line)...but the Dems STILL think they can keep that issue bottled up, so they don’t go there...even in this article.

The REAL FEAR that Democrats have is that they are now SO FAR LEFT, that a reasonably conservative Republican can take the WHITE VOTE and start off with 50% of the total electorate...it’s there for the taking, and Trump is now taking it, since no one else would.

Anyone here think he’ll live to see Iowa and New Hampshire?
They took out two Kennedys, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, George Wallace, Lincoln, McKinley and came **this** close with Reagan.

When the PTBs took out those in your list, not much happened as a result, but if they took out Trump now, it might spark something the PTBs may not be able to contain.

Didn’t spark much? Were you alive in 1968?

The country was already burning well before the k bros and mlk were put down. The spark had already been lit, and those deaths were just the final explosions from all the pre-existing fires.

Right now, the only ones burning things are obamabots burning down some of their obamatowns. If the PTBs took out Trump now, a different set of people may be compelled to spark more fires in bigger obamatowns.

If he can hold his temper (or at least deploy it strategically), I don’t think he’ll get rolled by media sophistry. Certainly the country is in no danger of swooning for Jeb! when he speaks Spanish at them.
