(CNN)Anger over Sandra Bland's death in a Texas jail has boiled over after newly released video showed what happened at the traffic stop that led to her arrest.
Now, many question whether she should have been arrested at all.
The dashcam video shows Texas state Trooper Brian Encinia pulling Bland over July 10 for allegedly failing to use her turn signal. What started as normal conversation gets testy after Encinia asks her to put out her cigarette.

The professional law enforcement officer had no intention of doing that. Or he had no idea how it's done. It was obey and comply immediately with my authority or else.
It's almost as if some of these cops want the cities/counties sued into bankrupsey. The general population has less and less trust for government and it's agents. This is a good example of that.
This guy just created even more distrust for government. Apparently these obey me or else crowd don't understand, it's not just this dead lady from the traffic stop...She has relatives, family, friends, coworkers who've have all been impacted by this.
This is just fueling widespread distrust with this warlike mentality of "comply or else".
“no such laws that allow you to attack at LEO for any reason”
“any reason?” hahaha Okay, now twisting words, false statement and flatly untrue. 18 USC § 241 242 Stop wasting the board’s time with such nonsense and get back to kneepad duty.
Your race says it all. That is why you blindly support any black. You probably supported Treyvon and Michael Brown too. Both got what they deserved.
Conservatism means self accountability and self responsibility. Stop blaming everyone else for your own actions. I’m sorry you had a few bad experiences, but don’t paint all cops as bad. That behavior is no different than a cop painting all blacks as bad because blacks make up a majority of all crime stats.
Bad cops are out there and you can get them investigated, fired, or jailed. But in this case, he did not violate the law. She did. She is not a good example of a martyr for your cause. You still have to follow the law even if you dislike it. Color doesn’t give you a pass on that.
Just try using that the next time you’re pulled over. I can’t wait to see the results of your funeral.
You are a racist cop . Race has nothing to do with this. My husband is white. He was the one treated poorly by the police. My 82 year old mother in law is white. She got treated poorly by the police. Treyvon and Brown deserved what they got. They were in the wrong. This lady deserved to be treated professionally.
You don’t seem to understand that bad apples spoil the whole bunch. When middle and upper classes are now complaining about police behavior, you cops have a serious problem. I personally will not vote for any tax increases to support the police, and neither does anyone I know.
Basically, you are saying that it is ok for a cop to verbally beat up on the public who pays your salary. You are saying it is ok for a cop to act in an unprofessional manner. You are saying my viewpoint is clouded by my color, but color has nothing to do with this. You have showed me that you are a racist, and you like facism.
Pie in the sky. No one believes that.
So if this would have been the cops watch commander's wife, mayor or city attorney who was pulled over in this situation, do ya think he would have handled this traffic stop in the same manner?
Come on.
I’m not going to defend everything the cop said or did, but the whole episode would have played out entirely differently if Sandra Bland had been true to her name by being cooperative, non-confrontational, and respectful from the start. Smart people do not pick fights with cops.
“Try and follow now, I know its hard for you.”
Nothing hard about it except dealing with someone with your lack mental acuity!
Wait a second. She’s not dead because of the arrest, she’s dead because she sat in jail and then, for whatever reason, she killed herself of someone killed her (unlikely, but have to mention it as a possibility).
Three days in jail. Now there are 200 people at a memorial service. Where were they then?
I just don’t get it.
And the cop got put on administrative suspension of some kind because of what? Because of the death? Not because of the arrest, because if was due to the arrest then they would have reduced the charges, wouldn’t they?
So some numbskull decided to KEEP her in jail for this questionable arrest and her whole family and all those 200 people were fine with her SITTING in jail all that time.
That’s what I can’t get past.
It’s not the arrest. It’s the 3 days. There’s something wrong there.
Like I said, I can’t wait.
Hopefully it will be soon.
Or if it had been some city attorney or county supervisor who was pulled over.
We would have never heard about this insignificant minor traffic stop. It probably would have ended with a laugh and pat on the back.
She was the one calling him a pussy ass cop.
She was doing the verbal beating, not him.
I never suggested she died or was killed during the traffic stop...Read carefully.
LOL, okay, moron.
What soon? Another tazer unjustifiably used on non-combative individual with the “unexpected consequences” of an unlawful death? Interesting how excessive force criminal homicide doesn’t upset the gang in blue fan boys, such frothing at the mouth. Disgusting.
“Verbal beating”. Poor lightweights. Hahaha!
Btw, I mentioned early I do not know the circumstances of why she was thrown in a cage for 3 days for such an ridicules infraction.
But you can bet the property taxes will be going up a bit more to pay for the heavy badge mentality.
Police officers have a job to do. An important job; protecting citizens like you. - Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jus fire them all. That’s thuh ticket! /s
Yes, heavy badge mentality, protected by their fanboys, like cuckolds, poor things.
