COBB COUNTY, Ga.
Cobb County is telling a Kennesaw family to apply for permission to park their kids' cars in their own driveway.
The Oviedo family got a notice of violation for having four cars in the driveway. The family has relatives visiting and two kids home from college.
"I am angry. I am beyond angry. I don't see how the government can tell me whose cars I can park in my own driveway," said Kim Oviedo.
They got a visit Friday from code enforcement, acting on an anonymous complaint. The neighborhood is zoned an Open Space Community. A recent rule changed, and enacted a limit of two cars parked in the drive.
"The fact that my kid's home from college and now I'm a law breaker I guess," said neighbor Mark Talley, who has three cars for the summer too.
"I love Cobb County. I love living here and generally I'm a fan of what we do, but it seems to not make a whole lot of sense."
After Channel 2 consumer investigator Jim Strickland got the county on the phone, officials decided to let the issue slide this summer, but put the family on notice next summer would require a permit to park four cars in the driveway.
"I'm having to pay to park on a property that I already pay tax on," said Oviedo.

Check out the video in the link. You will see the cars are sort of hidden away from the street. Not as if that matters, but still how ridiculous!

H.O.A.’s are one of the most Un-American inventions in my life-time. A bunch of petty tyrants and wanna-be somebodys.
4 cars is too many in your own driveway when family is visiting? Wow.
Wait a minute! I’ll bet they’re including all the vehicles that are up on blocks in their count, aren’t they?
Under the Cobb County Zoning Ordinance, those are supposed to be classified as “out-buildings”.
;-)
They got a visit Friday from code enforcement, acting on an anonymous complaint. So much like life on the eastern side of the Iron Curtain.
So just leave two of the four vehicles them running all the time.
“an anonymous tip” after it was zoned as “an Open Space Community”... sounds like some hyper-liberal neighbor needs an aggressive push-back.
I have more than four vehicles in my driveway when NO ONE is visiting.
As much as I loathe HOAs, I don’t think an HOA has anything to do with this one. This appears to be 100% county government (and busy-body neighbor, of course).
So, parking on the curb side is preferred?
I don’t get it. Except for ridiculous rules from some petty neighborhood zoning board and old biddy(ies) with nothing better to do.
The Left, and most other groups seeking power and authority, always pushes those who will not fight back, like any bully. It's long past time that the mainstream began to fear pushing Christians, whites, Conservatives, rednecks, etc. That fear will only come with some repeated aggressive displays. It is what they have brought us and taught us.
I know I’d feel safer if there were more driveway laws.
Thus an end to the Constitutional right to confront your accuser.
That's the problem. Citizens are all for a whole slew of government "feel good" initiatives until the consequences fall on them. This guy probably thought that the county beautification regulations were a good idea because he thought they'd only apply to other people.
HOA’s are full of tyrant democrats and Obama voters.
The family should sue the county for a refund of all property taxes paid since, apparently, it isn’t really their property.
I notice they have a three car garage, which is likely full of crap.
