That's a really, really bad idea. That ensures that the "establishment" candidate will always win - primaries in stages allow for "insurgent" campaigns to prove their seriousness and ability to organize without having to compete in dozens of states simultaneously.

That said, Iowa seriously needs to get over itself.

Iowa takes its early primary too seriously. All primaries should be on the same day, no exceptions.

I've been saying this for years.

Have three national primaries. (That's 50 separate elections in 50 states.)

One set of primaries the end of January to weed out the clowns and pretenders. Candidates need at least 10% of the vote in a given state to move on, or they are eliminated from the next ballot.

A second set of primaries the end of March. Now you need at least 25% of the vote to move on. This ensures no more than 3 candidates in each given state move on to the finals.

A final set of primaries to be held in June. Delegates are then awarded for the national conventions.
