Rush Limbaugh was inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians in 2012 in Jefferson City, Mo.Credit Julie Smith/Associated Press The conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who has a substantial following among grass-roots Republicans, came to the defense of Donald J. Trump on Monday as prominent leaders in the party stepped up their criticism of Mr. Trump’s pointed comments about Senator John McCain.

Such a defense is not entirely surprising, since Mr. Limbaugh’s distaste for the Republican establishment is deep and well documented. But the supportive words from Mr. Limbaugh may provide Mr. Trump with the inoculation he needs to survive the scorn of the party’s elders long enough to be included in the presidential debates.

I wish Hannity had taken the same tone as Limbaugh. He was bashing Trump. I’ve had enough of his whiny crap.

“I’ve heard his show enough. He’s not that conservative. He said there is no difference between Jeb and Hillary? But he’s promoting other RINOs?”

Rush has not promoted RINOs. Not now, not ever. He is conservative. A Bushbot? Uh, no. You are referring to Rush LIMBAUGH, right?

Rush has not promoted RINOs.

Who has he endorsed in the last six elections? I don't remember who he promoted the last two times, but I seem to remember him promoting a RINO in 2000 and 2004.

I remember some months back when Rush said Jeb and Hillary should run together Bush/Clinton or Clinton/Bush because there was virtually no difference in their stance on the issues.

megan McCain was just hired by fox news.

FNC is wrong in their motto.

Truth is NEVER fair and NEVER balanced to the untruth/lie.

FNC does not care about truth.

Hannity is usually scatter brained...

As a NewYorker, all he hears daily is the New York (so called conservative) media types and their opinions which he often shares..

In this case his opinion is no different then the New York Media (like Mark Simone) and I think he secretly is fearful of Trump doing a Ross Perot.

I try to avoid commentators from New York, all together. It saves my sanity for more important topics..

While I do not personally know who he likes,

It's a well known fact that Rush NEVER endorses ANY primary candidate and goes out of his way NOT to criticize any of the candidates knowing full well that job is going to be done by the MSM hacks.

And I agree with him, we (FReepers) have enough problems dealing with the MSM and their attacks on our candidates that we don't have to stoop to their level and help them with their job.

I heard it too and that's the first time I had ever heard Rush dis any primary candidate.........

Kinda throws a wrench into Nick's "Bushbot" theory doesn't it?.........LOL!

Are you serious?

You're basing your whole disagreement with Rush on what?????

Like Jim Rob said, give it a rest Nick and stop digging your hole for fools since you're now in way over your head with no chance in climbing out......Sheesh!..........

100% in agreement..

My replies were due to a ridiculous but somewhat commonplace assertion on FR that Rush is working for the DC republican cabal and thus is a Bushie..

Just a guess, but I see a “Paul” in the woodpile.....lol Maybe both of them.

Who has he endorsed in the last six elections?

You obviously never listen to his show or read the original article. But for the record, he's never endorsed anyone, including Trump. In this instance, he's pointing out what happens when Republicans "step in it" as opposed to when Trump allegedly "steps in it". When some GOPe "steps in it" they apologize and slink away. Trump doubles and triples down. And in both cases, the media takes everything out of context and most people will base their knee-jerk reactions on how the media reports with edited remarks of said member of the GOP. For it's part, the media, specifically the Compost, took his comments out of context.

I’ve never heard him promote anybody before a primary. He likes to stay out of the fray. I think that’s a good call. He avoids the garbage should something go wrong regarding his pick.

However, once a Republican is chosen, he would typically support that Republican. My guess is his supporting McCain in ‘08 was painful for him, as it was for many of us.

But by “staying above the fray” isn’t he saying it’s okay for a RINO to be nominated? People have said he trashed Jeb.

I’ve heard people complain about him and other talk radio hosts for that very thing (by not backing a conservative, they’re saying “okay” to a RINO) and I share that frustration. I haven’t listened to him in several months because the current logistics of my employment prevent me from doing so, however, in reading his website, it seems that nothing has changed. Others here should be able to fill you in more specifically.

It is crystal clear from past and current comments that Rush has no love for Jeb Bush or other RINOs.

Go to his website and read the transcripts of his show. You’ll know exactly where he stands.
