The excerpt doesn't mention the police mistaking him for someone else. The family is the one who said the police mistaked him for someone else because the family said he didn't have any warrants and that there's someone else with his name and warrants?

Of course. When they sue, they want to make sure they get the maximum benefit of "lost future wages". If they really wanted to increase their earnings potential, they should have said he was studying to be a Clinton...
