I couldn’t agree more with the blogger. I just don’t understand all of these heartfelt, usually commonsense conservatives/libertarians jumping on the Trump bandwagon. Is he that much of a svengali? With so many people supporting him, I fear I’m missing something here. I know I’m not wrong on Trump the carny barker, but what I’m not perceiving is the underlying problems among our candidates that Trump is exploiting to have so many people defending him. We would never put up with his views on a whole host of issues from other candidates.
Frankly, some of these folks are conservative by temperament but not by learning or education. Therefore, they don’t get what conservatism is really all about. They don’t know its roots, its writers, its thinkers, or its goals. Many of them are the same type who think that Putin is a conservative. Some of them are merely anti Obama and then anyone can come along and trick them. They’re basically willing to be duped by Trump even though his record and his contributions show he is not now and probably never was a real conservative.
