The only reason he was captured in Vietnam was because his father was an Admiral in the U.S. Navy. No one says anything about this anymore. No one also says anything anymore about the photos that exist on a wall in Hanoi of McCain hobnobbing with the enemy elite.
You don’t have it straight.

McCain, I thought, was despised by conservatives for back-stabbing us every chance he has. And now some conservatives are defending McCain?
In my mind, the only proper defense of McCain is that he suffered greatly because of his service in Viet Nam, and for his whole life has borne those scars. His time in the US Senate and other endeavors in his life, however, are justifiably open to criticism, as are those of anyone who chooses a role of leadership.
If Trump sinks, what kind of position do you think that leaves us in? a strong one? I’m not so sure about that. I think if they can sink him, they can and will sink anyone that dares to stand up and oppose the uniparty.
This veteran does not care for McCain (but I respect his service). And, I absolutely do NOT trust Democrat-in-hiding Trump.
.
All the right creeps are attacking him !
I guess your working for Team Jebbie !
[Trump is showing the GOPe how to fight...for that he has my respect.]
I would change that just a little bit by saying Trump is showing us how to fight the GOPe.
McCain was a prisoner of war in the service of his country. For that he deserves our respect and appreciation. Always and forever, God bless him.
However! That does not mean McCain is not a bit unstable emotionally, a bit isolated and confused about the current state of the nation, or a bit old-fashioned in his ideas of what is good for the USA.
good luck with all that
That’s right. For example they spend more of our tax dollars for tens of millions of illegal aliens than we do our own veterans. Never mind the choked off social services meant for our own needy/elderly.
This is criminal.
Same here - 24 years in uniform and 15 more working with those in uniform and McCain engenders no protection response in me. I honor his service as I do anyone but have no respect for him as a politician and some serious questions about how he actually served and became singled out for all the accolades that elevated him to "hero" status and probably greatly assisted in getting his foot in the door of D.C., where he has been more traitor than hero.

Earl Hopper spent 30 years with the Army in Airborne Special Services and with Army Intelligence and he was a founding member of the National League of Families, dedicated to returning living POWs and MIAs of the Vietnam War.
He and those interviewed purport that the narrative propagated by McCain, of his five and a half years as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam is about as far from the truth as one could possibly imagine. They allege that McCain, from the very first moments of his capture behaved as a COLLABORATOR and propaganda tool for his North Vietnamese captors.
McCain is described as engaging in no less than 30, and up to 38 anti-American propaganda broadcasts for Radio Hanoi during the period of his captivity. Far from the image of the dedicated American “hero” sweating it out in a North Vietnamese prisoner’s “hotbox” for five and half years, McCain was observed by fellow prisoners to be receiving special treatment by his captors, who were fully aware of his father’s and grandfather’s 4-star Admiral positions with the US Navy.
Not a single contemporary captive interviewed here ever witnessed McCain’s alleged “torture” at the hands of his jailers. The consensus opinion of the other POWs in McCain’s camps was that McCain was actually NEVER tortured by the North Vietnamese.
McCain’s disgraceful and wholly reprehensible conduct (along with that of John Kerry) during the 1991-93 Senate Committee on POW/MIAs, where McCain made massive efforts to block the release of classified documents and is described the person who did the most harm to the movement of families who wanted to rescue any remaining loved ones.
McCain is described by those interviewed in this clip as perhaps the person who did the most to quash this movement and they suspect that this was because he didn’t want the truth to be revealed by them.
To them, his actions leave no doubt that McCain is a traitor to this country and its veterans and especially, to the families of POWs and MIAs.
