But you notice Trump didn’t attack McCain for that. he went after his military service, thereby distracting from all McCain’s terrible stuff. Neat trick. And so many people fell for it.

McCains terrible stuff is going to come under attack by Ted Cruz later on down the campaign trail...and, his praising of McCain right now will only strengthen his case.
Cruz is setting this up as his strategy, he aims to fight the establishment for the nomination and he is removing personal attacks on McCain so that ulterior motives are not in question when arguing actual party policy in the coming year.
We all know McCain is the enemy and so does Ted Cruz.
Ted Cruz is a politician, a very brilliant one.
