Well, therein lies the dilemma. According to some, McCainez was subject to daily beatings when it was learned he was the son of an Admiral.

According to others, he was given special favors after it was learned he was the son of an Admiral.

I wasn't there. I don't know which to believe. Both scenarios sound plausible to me.
