Having worked for both an Israeli defense company and many US companies, I can attest that Israeli equipment is frequently superior to what we field. The problem they have is cost. They don’t, for example, make their own airplanes. The costs are prohibitive. Ours are cheaper because the lines supply not only the US but many forwign countries. So, the same, say, fighter jet with similar capabilities would cost many times more per copy than buying a US plane. Even if the Israeli model is superior, they can’t afford enough of them.
I suspect that if Israel goes to war it will be the first war fought almost entirely by drones. Tiny, cheap and disposable...drones.
You are correct, when I talk weapons I tend to understate a little, it lets the uninformed stay engaged a little longer before they start the “we can’t lose” bravado.
