Quote is confusing and will be misinterpreted. Desite punctuation the words seem to indicate Trump said McCain is not a hero BECAUSE he was a POW.
What Trump meant was McCain is not a hero simply because of the fact he was a POW.
And when Trump said he liked people who weren't captured, what do you suppose he meant by that?

The term Hero and its meaning has been degraded via the guilt surrounded the Vets of Vietnam, in part thanks to John Kerry who told outrageous tales to congress, the MSM, Hollywood, and Charles Kuralt who declared the war over before it was....awful things happened to some of our military because of that.
Hero now applies to military like the Rules of Engagement-unarmed Marines who were shot by the Terrorist in Chattanooga, TN. I am sure fine men all....but calling them Hero's denigrates those fighting ( with their hands tied behind them) today in far away places.
So Trump called McCain a dummy? Bill O'Reilly calls people "Pinheads" constantly and Obama chastised McCain early on with a put down remark at a meeting "The election is over Senator, I won." Or words to that affect....Trump's 'dummys are someone else's pin heads. Big deal! Moving on......
