On the other hand, F John McCain! Just because he was a POW doesn't mean he has any business being a Senator. He's been riding that horse for decades.
I loathe John McCain. The last time he ran, I voted straight Republican...except for senator. I voted for McCain’s opponent, although that was partially because I knew the democrat wouldn’t win.
But I also loath those who denigrate Vietnam vets, prisoner or not, while they received deferments to go to college.
Yes the mission of war is to kill the enemy. If you are a POW you aint’ killing anybody. So being captured does not make you a war hero. I do respect McCain for enduring the torture and not going home early. But since he got out of the military he’s been a disgrace.
Whatever hero worship McCain gained by being a POW was wasted by him when he turned his back on the POW-MIA families, along with John Kerry, and we never received an accounting of the hun dreds of men we KNEW were left behind as POWs.

Foolish and wrong. He should apologize to John McCain, who is a hero because he honorably endured captivity, like the American POWs who survived the Japanese captivity. He does not owe all veterans an apology. He did not disparage us.

He didn’t serve, even though he was exactly the prime age during Vietnam. Did his rich family buy him an exemption? Just asking. Could be a story there. Better vet him now, rather than wait.
