There are times when I think winning the Cold War was the worst thing that could have happened to us. Why? Because it made us too secure/comfortable and we dropped our guard on a number of fronts (not just in terms of national security). This paved the way for someone like Obama to get elected.

In the old days, Obama would not even have been able to get a security clearance.

More to the point: winning the Cold War enabled a new level of stupid in this country, which we embraced wholeheartedly.

Did we really win the Cold War?
I’ve had to rethink that in light of what has occurred.
Russia is ruled by the KGB (under a different set of letters)
The U.S. has a communist in the Rainbow House fundamentally transforming us.
Find the Communist Goals read into the Congressional record in 1963 and tell me if we won the Cold War.
Most of those goals have been met or are on their way to being met.
