Donald Trump was unfortunately proven right on another one of his top issues Thursday: "gun free zones" at military bases.
Indications that Thursday's shooting at two military bases in Chattanooga, Tenn., occurred at or near "gun free zones."
In an interview with the website AmmoLand.com, Trump decried the zones on military bases, suggesting that they left highly-trained gun operators without a weapon to fire at attackers, with the exception of military police.
The interview was a tour de force on guns and the Second Amendment by Trump, who recently addressed the NRA annual convention in Nashville.
Trump, permitted to carry a concealed weapon, said that Americans should stay vigilant against gun control on the national and local stage.
"My advice is to remain vigilant. Harassment of this nature will always be with us, but we know that Americans have inherited a strong outdoor and shooting heritage that we are happy to defend," said Trump. "The 2nd Amendment is right, not a privilege. The small minority of anti-everything activists may be vocal, but we have facts, and the Constitution, on our side."
He also said that gun control doesn't work. "Gun control does not reduce crime. It has consistently failed to stop violence. Americans are entitled to protect their families, their property and themselves. In fact, in right-to-carry states the violent crime rate is 24 percent lower than the rest of the United States and the murder rate is 28 percent lower. This should not be up for debate."

Notice how quickly Trump leads.

Water is Wet and Fire Burns is a novel concept for the Lame Stream Media....
My personal opinion is Trump has been lurking here for years. And knows exactly how we think. So either in his books ,his interviews or his life style he has mimicked FReepers./ s
He is a friend of Sarah Palin afterall. ;-)
THE. Speech was weeks ago. He said it forward. LEADERSHIP!

Trump and Cruz are the only 2 I see who wouldn’t test the wind first. Its a simple common sense thing that we all know.
I know it was my first thought today.
That is just part of the toxic mix of demagoguery and nonsense, according to Perry.
Right on.
God bless Donald Trump!
They can’t be.
Perry has been proven wrong. He was one of the first to denounce Trump’s accurate statements.
100% pure turd (no blossom).
Perry is a go along to get along doof. Low IQ low brow, all hat no cattle dipshit PC pussy boy.
If you are active military with no NJP’s and without civilian PFA’s, you should automagically register for concealed carry and be given a discount (subsidized to gun store owners via tax break) to purchase your own sidearm and carry at all times. ISIS is here, the battleground is here. ISIS won’t leave their guns at home overseas.
This administration has left our southern border in worse condition than the Bush clan and who really knows what is crawling through as I type this..
Thanks hoosiermama, I will look for the last book Trump wrote. Is it “Time To Get Tough”?
Agreed. He was a coward.
No bureaucratic "solution" is ever 100%, but as my son said to me (I apologize for paraphrasing from necessity): BCIT, AIT and a couple years' worth of the kind of scrutiny only good sergeants can give will sort out most of the untrustworthy ones.

Trump appears to be abandoning his erstwhile moderate image in favor of adopting a conservative & populist one... but I wonder if its authentic.
Trump is bringing out those issues loud & clear to the tune that everyone else will have to address them. No more hiding for the weak-kneed.
The candidate that can best address those issues gets a (semi) free ride for “not being Trump” but gets to showcase conservative solutions for those younger folks that only know what their professors and their Facebook friends show them.
The last guy who could succinctly express conservative thought to the masses was Ronald Reagan.....and it won him 49 states.
