More like one political faction that had been sucking at the municipal check book for 40 years got beaten by another. Think about it. A town of 700 people has a six-member police department, a city attorney, a water treatments supervisor? I live near Lexington, a town almost seven times as big and which gets along with an eight member police force. I think that a lot of people had gotten pretty good salaries for some time without really earning it and suddenly realized the gravy train was over.
To the current recipients, that is. Her own friends and family will resume sucking at the tit.
For all you MoveOn.org twits reading this, it's not a race thing. It's a corrupt government employee thing.
I truly hope she turns things around and makes her new force a quality organization. But I doubt she will.
Tyrus Byrd, the newly elected Mayor is, apparently, a Republican... and I suspect she ran, in part, on a promise to root out corruption...
And yes, there probably IS a racist underbelly - Racist DEMOCRATs who are corrupt and have been committing criminal activity in their jobs/offices... But just mostly speculation.
