Israel may have to use a couple of its nukes on the American fleet before or in conjunction with its attack on Iran. If, as I suspect, the fleet has orders to shoot down any IDF launch against Iran, a nuclear attack by Iran will have totally unintended consequences that no one can foresee. Once it happens all bets are off.

Sitting and waiting only makes them stronger, especially with the muslim enforcer in the white house.
Things can go wrong rather quickly in these situations.
The Israeli attack on the USS Liberty was purposed to blind the US during the initial days of the 1967 war. Israel pre-emptively initiated hostilities.
It would not be possible for Israel to blind the US currently, therefore a preemptive strike would have to be a task force disabling strike, and the only sure way to disable a task force is to kill it. Israel and a couple of other nations have that ability.
