When people started “buying foreign”, they did so because the UAW worker and the Detroit management were building shoddy products. The American buyers were not “stripping American workers of jobs”. The UAW workers and UAW leadership were throwing away their own jobs.
Secondly, the purpose of the military is to defend the United States, not to be a jobs program for “the dregs of society to find a new life.” Restart the Civilian Conservation Corps and put those “dregs of society” to work pulling kudzu in the South before they can draw their welfare check. Perhaps pulling Kudzu could replace the malicious desire to pull down the Stars & Bars?
If they can do a good job pulling kudzu, then let them apply for the military.
Another idea is to have the UAW start an apprenticeship program in the inner cities of their plant locations. Demand that the leadership of those cities eliminate the gangs which terrorize the city or the plant will move to safer environs.
I disagree that American cars were “shoddy.” I have driven General Motors products all my life and am driving one even now. I have NEVER had a car that did not give me excellent service. I have NEVER had a car in the shop except for an oil change or new tires, and I drive a lot of miles. NOTHING has ever gone wrong with any of my G.M. cars.
I agree that the unions needed and need to be slapped down, but the “shoddy” label was largely, if not entirely, a CON JOB by FREE TRADE Internationalists. They succeeded! People believed the Media Propaganda and bought foreign and are still doing so while American patents are shipped overseas along with American jobs.
Secondly, I never said nor intimated that our Military was a jobs program. I pointed out that thousands of people have found purpose in their life through Military Service. They have found discipline and training and you cannot deny that. If you consider a good citizen developed through Military training is not “defending the United States” then
you and I are on different wave lengths. In fact, some of our greatest soldiers have been “problems” in their youth.
I totally agree with your statement about jobs and leadership programs in the inner cities. Gangs must be wiped out and that goes double for ‘foreign” gangs. Assimilate or get out!
