And the Florida Constitution still requires what it requires.

-----

Article one, SECTION 2. Basic rights.—All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty, to pursue happiness, to be rewarded for industry, and to acquire, possess and protect property; except that the ownership, inheritance, disposition and possession of real property by aliens ineligible for citizenship may be regulated or prohibited by law. No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability.

-----

Bush also swore a sacred oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, which, in two Amendments, absolutely requires exactly the same protection for ALL innocent persons:

-----

"No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."

-- The Fifth Amendment

"No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

-- The Fourteenth Amendment

Without a legal decision on his side, Jeb was just as helpless as anyone else. Terri’s closest relatives seem to understand that.

There’s plenty of reasons not to like Jeb, but blaming Terri’s death on him is unjustified.
