Texas-based hamburger chain Whataburger is not going to comply with Texas open carry law.
I am sick of all of these activist businesses. I suppose it is their right as much as it is my right to avoid them.
Burger joints. There is no monopoly when it comes to them.
Bigotry! Discrimination against true AMERICANS!! I’m OFFENDED!!
Whatabummer, eh Whataburger?
Say what? Whatabunglers.
They have jacked their prices up so much that I rarely go there anymore. $8 for one of their combo meals.
Vox populi!
Bet they’d cater a gay “wedding’.
Kind of sorry we don’t have any in this state (NY) so I can boycott them.
Compromise... order at the outside window and take it to your target shoots... life’s too short to let our mind get diminished by gratuitous punitiveness.
Misleading headline. W.B. Is in compliance with the law. The law allows open carry in public places and it allows private property owners to prohibit open carry. Texas also allows concealed carry which W.B. did not prohibit.
I am against gun free zones and will patronize any establishment that post no guns including a church. But open carry is another matter entirely. I probably wouldn’t allow it in my business even though I encourage concealed carry.
But everyone is free to act and do as they see best so I support all sides in this one in Texas. No one’s freedom is impinged.
Calling all armed robbers. The lights are always on at Whataburger.
WILL NOT PATRONIZE!
The article statement is incorrect as the TX law specifically allowed for establishment owners to post their facility as “No OC” with the placement of a specific sign. They are complying with the law as it gave them a choice. Those who wish to OC now have a choice, too.
As I’ve stated on the other thread on this, the mystery to me is that Oklahoma passed an OC law over 30 months ago and no Whataburger that I go to has posted their facility but now TX has passed a law and they feel compelled to make a statement. Seems a bit disingenuous to me...

All fast food joints are like that now. Everything is getting too expensive.
Don't worry, though. The dollar is strong and there's no inflation.
So you wouldn’t let cops into your business?
Read the law. WB allows concealed carry.
Let? Probably not.
Check your state law. In many states for businesses to ban guns, they must clearly post such bans. If they haven’t, open carry into the Whataburger and if they refuse you service because of your gun, make sure their manager knows that they haven’t just lost a sale, but they have lost a customer for good.
If enough people do this, those manager will complain up the chain, which will get their district managers upset. This is an effective technique to get the attention of top management.
