House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) called Thursday for an informal bipartisan group to review matters related to Confederate memorabilia in the U.S. Capitol, cutting off an unexpected, racially tinged debate over the Stars and Bars that had consumed the House floor.
Boehner sidelined legislation that would provide annual funds for the Interior Department after Southern lawmakers pushed to get a vote that would allow for brief displays and sales of the flag in veterans cemeteries and national parks.

Can’t be embarassing the democrats with their own history now, can you, Boehner?
How about a review of Boehner/Obama arming al Qaeda?
Nope.
or their initiating, and then covering up, the
IRS Atrocity?
nope.
or their scheming to lie to the American public
about ObamaCARE and ISIS?
nope. You will all die before any of this happens.
...and people wonder why Trump is gaining traction.
What in the world is an “informal bipartisan group” in this context anyways?
Just give him a triple scotch, and send him home to sleep it off. Problem solved.
The dickhead can start by reviewing the laws.
Congressional Appropriations Act, FY 1901,signed 6 June 1900
Congress passed an act of appropriations for $2,500 that enabled the Secretary of War to have reburied in some suitable spot in the national cemetery at Arlington, Virginia, and to place proper headstones at their graves, the bodies of about 128 Confederate soldiers now buried in the National Soldiers Home near Washington, D.C., and the bodies of about 136 Confederate soldiers now buried in the national cemetery at Arlington, Virginia.
(P.L. 38, 59th Congress, Chap. 631-34 Stat. 56)
Authorized the furnishing of headstones for the graves of Confederates who died, primarily in Union prison camps and were buried in Federal cemeteries.
U.S. Public Law 810, Approved by 17th Congress 26 February 1929
(45 Stat 1307 Currently on the books as 38 U.S. Code, Sec. 2306)
This law, passed by the U.S. Congress, authorized the Secretary of War to erect headstones over the graves of soldiers who served in the Confederate Army and to direct him to preserve in the records of the War Department the names and places of burial of all soldiers for whom such headstones shall have been erected.
U.S. Public Law 85-425: Sec. 410 Approved 23 May 1958
(US Statutes at Large Volume 72, Part 1, Page 133-134)
The Administrator shall pay to each person who served in the military or naval forces of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War a monthly pension in the same amounts and subject to the same conditions as would have been applicable to such person under the laws in effect on December 31, 1957, if his service in such forces had been service in the military or naval forces of the United States
Translation...
The Washington Establishment (most Democrats & Republicans)
led by the drunk Boehner and the Gobbler McConnell want to
ERASE U.S. History.
This NONSENSE will only get continue to get worse unless
we the people stand up.
Further confirmation that 0 has him by the nuts.
I sure am glad we won the election for the GOP in November, just the way they asked us to./
Thank the Freepers that demanded he be reelected over the powerless freshman Dem.
They share responsibility for this.
“I wish that were true. But honestly the Republicans have been falling all overthemselves to join the anti-Confederate jihad with absolutely no need for help from the Democrats.”
A Yankee is a Yankee is a Yankee. “We won, you lost, get over it” is not just the President’s motto.
They’re all falling for Obama’s Confederate DISTRACTION
No they are perpetuating it. Intentionally.
I thought Boner was busy dumping the complete Obamacare Law into a garbage can . . . I saw him do that during campaign time complete with a promise to do just that. Has the “law” ever bounced into the can or did he start crying when it landed on his foot?
Filthy hypocrite and liar! And he’s worried about a -oddamn flag under which over 300,000 men in the South died for states’ rights. What a disgusting fool!
Blame the people that reempowered the POS after he TOLD THEM he would WORK WITH Barry.
He kept his promise.
They said feet would be held to the fire
They lied.
Isn’t there something constructive they could be doing?
I’d like to pass a law saying that, until the budget is balanced and the border is secure, Congress is not allowed to worry about crap like the Confederate flag.
cryingman...eeewww
It’s Congress. I think you mean “destructive”.
