Growing up across the river in Vancouver, you could have fooled me that Portland is the “whitest city”. Especially if you ever drove down Burnside.
No longer Burnside, think its MLK Ave. Grew up in Clark County, WA in the 60s. We had one black student in my entire high school class. Outside of the old Burnside district, the city of Portland was lily white.
Think I was wrong. Back in the day it was Williams avenue that was pretty much the black area of Portland. Burnside black population developed after I left in the mid 60s.
