“’Blue Bloods’ is about my husband’s favorite tv show.”
I used to watch it because I love love love Tom Selleck. (Did I mention I love Tom Selleck?) But after a while I couldn’t take it any more.
The grammar the writers use is atrocious. Selleck says something like, “Me and my friends like to go fishing.” A man who’s risen to the position of Police Commissioner in NY would say, “My friends and I...”. The teenage girl, a student of some private hoity-toity school, says “Me and my friends want to go to the city”. Reflects badly on a parochial school education. Even if the writers are ignorant, you’d think at least one of the actors would correct it. At least one of them must’ve attended 6th grade. Grammar consistently is irritating on that show.
The teenage girl, with her smug look and uppity nose in the air is just creepy.
I do like how the Commissioner responds to ignorant questions from the press.
Yeah. The girl (& the women) sort of annoy me on that show. (I suspect my husband doesn’t mind watching some of the episodes over & over because he has the hots for the women.) They are ACTRESSES for goodness sakes, NOT big shot lawyers & heroic nurses working double shifts then coming home & cooking supper. ACTRESSES memorizing lines & watching their diets like hawks between their sessions with their personal trainers. Oh, & don’t get me started on how the makeup artists on the show jump to attend to powdering their noses for the camera. (If I dared to get my hair cut off in a pixie like that girl on the show; my husband would absolutely throw a fit.) Also, I’ve always had to cook serious meals for him & when you get near 70, the pounds tend to pile on easier. - I’ve tried to tell my husband that Selleck is married to a woman named Jillie Mack & only has one grown daughter instead of the litter they depict on “Blue Bloods”. (I try to keep my mouth shut, though. I watch episodes of Summer Wine reruns over and over on PBS.) I just let him drool over the BB women; if he wants to live in a dream world - he can hop to it! - Yep. I guess I’m just a bitter old woman (a BOW). You get that way after you’re married over 50 yrs. to a man who fancies himself something else besides what he is. :o(
