The public education system stinks on ice but people are people and are still motivated by the same things they have been in the past.

The reasons we are bringing in labor more complex than that and many of those reasons are indefensible.

Agreed.

I would add that one of the issues making the problem intractable is that the culture has shifted to one of entitlement in large part due to the welfare state.

Have we still got talented people? Hell yeah we do...the best. We just have far fewer as a percent of new employees than we did say 50 years ago.
