I have liked some of Trumps comments on immigration.
This is not one of them.
He is the first one to use the “D” word. That’s a step in the right direction.
Serious question: Even if you liked some of the things he said, can you trust it given his track record of saying things yo get attention and constant changing of opinions?
Could it be that Trump is trying to play both sides of the issue?
He’s done it with abortion and gun control and is a huge hypocrite on trade (his clothing line is/was made in Mexico, China, and Bangladesh).
Any reason Trump wouldn’t do it again?
I liked some of Trump's earlier, truthful comments on illegal immigration, but I never liked Trump. Stories like this illustrate why: on the issues, Trump is an opportunist. He'll take a hard line on immigration one day if it stirs up some controversy, then change his tune if that puts him back in the limelight. Kind of like his history of political donations: he'll grease the palms of Democrats and Republicans depending on whatever is convenient at the time.
Which isn't to say I'm much impressed with the rest of the 20+ candidates seeking the nomination either.
