The Greeks (at the time of the early church) believed that sex with men was superior to sex with women, because men were the superior sex. This is nothing new . . . and just as perverted.
Greek attitudes towards homosexuality are complex and changed considerably over time. They don’t fit neatly into either the Christian or homo-supremacist categories.
For instance, Greeks actually didn’t approve at all of sex between men. They approved of sex between adult men and pubescent/adolescent boys. When those boys grew up, of course, they continued the process.
Women, oddly, had higher status in Sparta than any other Greek city. Athenian women were essentially kept in purdah, treated much as in Islam today.
Decent women, that is. Poor women, slaves and courtesans had more freedom in some ways.
Men are disgusting pigs. And I know. Cause I am one. A relationship with a woman is what makes a man complete.
