Sure, the Feds cannot commandeer state employees, which is why it cannot, for example, command the San Francisco County Sheriff’s office to enforce federal immigration law.

What the federal government can do, however, is withhold federal funds (taken from the states) unless the states knuckle under to its edicts.

The State can then stop tax withholding for the federal government. It is not their responsibility, and they can direct it back onto the workers. Let them pay it on April 15th in a lump sum.

And that is the kicker... The money is “taken from the States”. Do not let it be “taken from the States”. Have the Governor of each emboldened State to force the Comptroller to suspend the taxes leaving the State going to the Fed pig trough.

Now who would have to knuckle under to the edicts?

Tell the feds to keep their money and go pound sand. Find another way o raise funds if you need them or trim the fat.
