No, headline says "never gets an answer" on "immigration". He did answer, his answer was the most important consideration, by far, was border security. The country needs to address that first and save consideration for alternatives on what to do about the illegals that are here until later.

The answer is that he favors waiting until the border is secure to address that issue, which makes sense to me, because if both issues get combined then the Dems could use their leverage to trade thei votes for border security for GOP votes on some kind of amnesty.

Far better to push border security first, and unconditionally, and then to get the Dems on record voting for or against it.

You're right - what the interviewer never gets an answer on is what to do about the illegals that are here. Tell-you-later is a less dissatisfying answer than JebJeb's or KrispyKreme's amnesty-you-betcha - but not one that gets a candidate my active support, and I appear not to be alone in that.
