Some people did not go to the NASCAR race because of the confederate flag issue.

I wonder how many camera angles NBC had to shift around for tonight’s race.

The real southern races like Talladega are going to be inundated with CBF’s.

I’m afraid NASCAR has woken a sleeping lion.

Since this is the largest single sporting event in the country this weekend, I kinda expect the Federals will have a thought police SWAT team in Daytona to take down those flags.

Normally, the broadcasters would have long sweeping pans of the infield campsites, and interview some of the revellers. ENBEESEA, “proud as a cock” had none of that. The only infield footage I saw was from the trackside of Lake Lloyd. I’ll wager that there was a virtual crop of Battle Flags waving like untasseled corn. That was just the Busch race. The Winston should prove more amusing.

Funny how these things turn out. I’ve seen more Stars and Bars flags on the back of pickups, motorcycles, passenger cars and big trucks in AR than I have ever seen. Wonder why that could be? Aw, maybe it is just a coincidence this year.

We need some Stars and Bars painted on the hoods or roofs of race cars, ala “General LEE”

and I’m a Yankee!

Good morning Sheik,

Was watching the local (Orlando) news Sunday morning.

Initial reports of the NASCAR Flag Exchange on Friday resulted in 0 (ZERO) flag exchanges and no report yet of Saturday results.

Looks as if true NASCAR fans are not going to tolerate messin' with the Stars-n-Bars!

Symbols are only powerful if we give them that power. When i look at the battle flag, i see historical representation, not of a culture of enslavement, both sides accepted slavery, the differences were who was in control.

As a yankee, i can see that, i respect that, i can see the honor in standing up to power.

I could care less about what the psychopaths of the Left say, but the most concerning to me is what Doc Dougherty said (team owner and black by the way)and how he has a small moment of fear when he sees one in the infield or parking areas. I think he used the words of the Left and they were poorly chosen and reflected badly upon him. 99.9% of the community would come out against racial bigotry if he voiced his concerns about that, but he went into straight leftist propaganda speak and he and NASCAR boxed themselves in with the hyenas.

At first, all the focus on the Confederate battle flag didn't make much sense beyond the usual need to blame something, but I forgot about that "never let a crisis go to waste" thing.

Now, GuvCo's offensive against the flag makes more sense, at least from a PTB/oligarchy point of view.

For many who display it, the Confederate flag has nothing to do with slavery or race.

For them, it was and still is a symbol of rebellion against a distant, tyrannical government imposing its will. It's the Rebel Flag.

Well, check the view screen, Uhura. Those days are here again.

I can definitely see why GuvCo needs to make sure the Rebel flag doesn't become a popular symbol to rally around and why they're taking advantage of this opportunity to turn their weapons of choice against it.

It's their same old same old when it comes to symbols we look up to and are inspired by, no matter what or who the symbol might be.

If the progressives can't infiltrate, compromise and claim it, they trash, destroy and banish all traces of its good from the collective dialog.

The Rebel flag is their latest target and they just re-named it "Will".

Bill France is doing his best to kill NASCAR. From IROC cars to this latest debacle over the flag. Dumb bastard doesn’t even remember who his fans are or he doesn’t care anymore with all the sponsor money flowing in. As a lifelong fan I find myself watching less and less every year. Haven’t seen more than one this year, cant’ stand the commercials every five minutes.

historically, the confederate battle flag represents rebellion against federal tyranny

and in a country that supposedly prides itself in free speech, regardless of who is insulted (ie: jerry falwell).. there should be absolutely no issue flying whatever flag you want.

if you say the confederate flag offends due to racism... then you should also be adamantly against the fag flag, which deeply offends tens of millions ... but the libs won't.

the push to ban the confederate flag is just another example of out of control federal govt

There’s a legitimate distinction between a governmental entity flying that flag and an individual flying it to make an individual statement.

We started the 4th of July weekend race as part of a nation rapidly changing away from its Founding Fathers’ values and its heritage.

In this crazy downside up world, NASCAR, too, has become an organization that is rapidly changing away from its founding family’s values and its heritage.

Going into the 4th of July weekend, NASCAR, while flying the rainbow fag with Pride, began telling its fans that they had better not fly the Confederate Rebel flag at its race tracks anymore or else!

Then NASCAR sides with NBC to cut ties with Donald Trump over Trump’s statements about ILLEGAL immigration.
(Why now? NBC and NASCAR didn’t have a problem when he wrote the same sorts of things, with supporting data, in his best-selling book how many YEARS ago???)

Sometimes events happens that make you wonder later if it was more than “just a race” and maybe this is one of those times.

History took a bow with a scary Daytona near-repeat to end that race after nature did its best to cancel it before it started with a timely rainstorm.

Feb 18, 2001, Dale Jr. won the race just as the #3 was involved terrible last lap crash. His father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., was killed. The Intimidator was gone.

This time, Dale Jr. won the race just as the #3 car was involved in and literally torn apart in a terrible last lap crash. By the Grace of God, the #3 car’s driver Austin Dillon walked away.

Afterwards, Austin Dillon told cameras he thinks the cars go too fast and everyone should slow down. He says the racing would be just as good.

Clearly thankful, he’s lucky to be alive, let alone walking and talking with only “a sore tailbone”, so he’s more than earned his opinion.

But, at the same time, I can’t help but notice how different the #3 car’s drivers are then and now. The Intimidator is gone.

Not sure what history doing a repeat like that means, if anything.

But, in the aftermath of last weekend, maybe those traditional fans are right.

NASCAR is gone, too.
