China is a low trust society. Between guanxi and communist lies, I doubt anyone in China believes this. For years the Chinese elites have been transferring their wealth outside the country.
Back when westerns were popular, whole towns were built as facades only. When I see ‘world's 2nd largest’ economy I think of it as the 2nd largest façade.
