As I see it, there is no pain or penalty for a municipality to declare themselves a ‘Sanctuary City’ and so they get all of the media and political glory without any cost. I propose that the STATES, who are generally less inclined to ‘Sanctuary’ status, impose penalties for reckless behavior like this willful ignorance of an ICE request. Perhaps the City should incur the entire trial, prison and victim costs for any similar case. Talk is cheap, money costs!

No, what needs to happen is the family needs to put a wrongful death lawsuit on SF and an (honest) judge needs to slap the city with a billion dollar judgement. That’ll stop the p**** from spending $80/week at Starbucks. The citizens of that city are individually and collectively responsible for the death of this person IMO.
