I live in NC. Rural about a mile from SC border.
Its normal here. Every male and probably 75% of females have guns.
The question is never “do you have any guns.”
Its always “what kind of guns do you have.”

But if you make your way twenty miles in either direction and get into the any city, they are usually overrun by yuppies.
A cesspool like Charlotte and a dairy farm 15 miles away are like being in two different countries.

Not at a Mall that has No Weapons signs posted.

There may be a bit of an argument over if it’s legal - gray area - the Mall has No Weapons signs posted at it’s entrances but not all the exterior entrance stores do.

NC carry laws do suck as compared to VA. A sign means precisely zero in VA. They have to ask you to leave. If you don’t, then it’s crimnal trespass.

I’ll probably catch some flak on this, but I’ve always thought most state gun laws were backwards. You should be able to carry concealed without a permit, but you should need a permit to carry openly.

****************************************************************

Call me an extremist but I can’t find a single reference to “permits” in the 2A.

Right you are. You should not need a permit to carry a gun. And the only exception, IMHO, are those folks who are still on parole.

It's the how of the carrying that we gently disagree with. As an analogy, I have the right to possess explicit erotica (aka dirty pictures). But do I have the right to plaster those pictures on a poster, and then carry the poster around town? Or need I be more discreet?

I suppose one could argue that sensitive folks just need to get used to seeing open-carry. Then why couldn't I argue that the folks just need to get used to seeing my crude erotica?

The 2A is an important right, a very important right. And IMHO concealed carry is the best way to exercise that right.

I’ve attended a number of Governor Christie’s townhall meetings hoping to be called upon in the Q&A so I can try to pin him down on the second amendment. No luck so far.

A success story by the disarmist. They managed to get a legal open carrier arrested, and spread this story of being “armed to the terror of the public” as though the public *should be terrorized* by the mere sight of a non-threatening person with a firearm.

“Say what you will, but, what better costume for a lone wolf terrorist than wearing a US Uniform and just casually walking into a mall fully loaded and then at the right moment..................... There is enough there to be concerned about, 2nd amendment or not. Do you think an ISIS type would wear his black mask, Ninga outfit, and all to get access to a mall?”

What does it gain a terrorist? Nothing. Just the possibility that someone will confront them before the terrorist is ready, which is why they never do it.

There is not a single terrorist case on record where this was done.

Heck, the terrorist in Tunisia just put his AK in an umbrella.

As for the silly comment about the ninga outfit, why would they do so, when all they have to do is carry a gym bag?

“This is why I would think twice about packing a AR around in the city.
Sensitive little yuppies are ‘terrorized’ over a mere drawing of a gun.
Teachers in schools are ‘terrorized’ over a poptart that looks like a gun.
Our children are being trained the same way you train dogs.”

All the more reason for open carry. It undoes that conditioning.

I want to hear the 911 calls. I want to know if the 911 caller lied or imbellished the situation to create a “lockdown” situation.

This has become a common tactic of the disarmists, and is promoted on the Bloomberg funded sites.

There should be severe repercussions for false 911 calls.

which is why citizens in mass should start calling 911 EVERY TIME they see a Police Officer, on or off duty, plain clothes or uniformed. BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED!

He is a Caucasian so I guess that is now enough reason to arrest anyone. Probable charge: White Privilege.

It doesn’t matter. People get shot for brandishing BB guns and replicas. Most people are OK with somebody open-carrying a sidearm. The problem I and a lot of people have with packing AR-15s and similar rifles in pulbic is that those cross the line into weapons used for offense, not defense.

Agreed. A lot of FR is acting like this guy was doing nothing wrong. From a legal standpoint, maybe he wasn't. But from a practical standpoint, he was doing a lot wrong. 4th of July weekend, terrorist warnings for public places, and this guy is going to a mall looking like he's about to go mow people down. How would you expect there to NOT be a flurry of 911 calls? If it was a terror attack and nobody called 911, FR would be screaming, "Why didn't anybody do anything?!?!"

Pro-tip: pack your stuff in a footlocker, get it there, and then put on your duds.

I'm OK with everything he had EXCEPT the AR-15. This guy is not smart.

Probable charge: White Privilege.

You joke, but give it time. The media and the world are lapping at the "white privilege" trough, and I would not doubt I'll see that used as a legal defense or tactic at some point in my lifetime.
