Sometimes we were making adjustments. Other times I needed to take a wire brush and scrub the paint build up off the tip. Sometimes I was just painting extra parts on the line. Other times I was just watching them paint.

Typical paint robot doing its thing.

It doesn’t need breaks, doesn’t take vacations, sick leave, or personal time. It doesn’t go on strike or sue for carpel tunnel syndrome. It doesn’t argue with the boss or other employees.

At one time I routinely worked on a large robot, frequently getting in the cage with it running. Had to do a sort of dance to avoid getting hit by it. One day it crashed into a welding machine, destroying it’s end-effector and shredding part of the welding machine. I thought ‘wow I’m glad that wasn’t my face.’
