According to a new CNN poll, majorities support both SCOTUS ObamaCare and its gay marriage decision:
"According to a new CNN/ORC poll, 63% support the Courts ruling upholding government assistance for lower-income Americans buying health insurance through both state-operated and federally-run health insurance exchanges. Slightly fewer, 59%, say they back the ruling which made same-sex marriages legal in all 50 states."
Its not surprising that a majority of voters like free money which is undoubtedly what they think about ObamaCare subsidies or that they support legalizing gay marriage. Previous polls showed that already. No, whats shocking here is that theyre apparently willing to throw federalism in the dust bin to achieve these goals. Because thats what happened her in both cases. With regards to ObamaCare Congress was basically circumvented and the state suddenly means Washington D.C. And, while many people might be happy that same-sex marriage is now legal everywhere, the Supreme Court was only able to do this by taking away the power of individual states to define marriage; an issue clearly left to them according to the Constitution.
In other words, Americans are a-okay with power grabs as long as they support the issues the judicial coups are meant to defend.
Or not? Hot Air explains that the average voter may not even realize what just happened and CNN, of course, conveniently forgot to explain it to them. Especially the question about ObamaCare was questionable if not downright deceptive:...

Barack sh!t!
No they dont
59% don’t know what Federalism be and I betcha they be the” gibs-me-dats”
cnn did this push poll because they know that the opposite is true.
One can only imagine the reaction of the left should such rulings as these have gone the other way.
Question the poll results, but anyone who says they’re glad federalism is dead is either too far gone living off the State, or just an idiot who will soon come to regret the loss of federalism.
Ask 'em again, when they're IN the concentration camps.
that was my first thought as well. No one explained to them what federalism is .
That poll appears to reflect what has happened in the last two presidential elections, but it does not reflect the midterm routs that were generally in favor of federalism and tradition.
We are a seriously divided country and that does not bode well for the future, assuming that there will be one that can be written about.
They love the new “Unified State of America.”
Individual regions may still celebrate quaint customs at times, as long as it doesn’t insult a sodomite or some other contrived minority.
More evidence that most Americans are ignorant idiots and fools - AND that democracy (mob rule which we are quickly heading for) is a disaster.
1017 total respondents; 303 or 30% were African-Americans.
Poll is total nonsense.
One of the main objections to Democracy which our founding fathers had to deal with was its tendency to impose the tyranny of the majority. An Mel Gibson’s character in “The Patriot” so well put it, “Why should I trade one tyrant 2000 miles away for 2000 tyrants one mile away?” In the Federalist papers this was referred to as the tyranny of factionalism. Madison went to great pains to show that a constitutional democratic republic combined with an absolute sovereignty of individual natural rights and a federalist separation of power was the antidote to this well documented flaw in a purely democratic system. Well, all of those fail-safes are now gone and we are seeing the face of factionalism in all its ugliness. When you combine this access to power with the solipsistic worldview and post-modern disdain for any objective morality which prevails in modern culture then you get the worst society imaginable.
It’s a CNN poll. It’s nothing but disinformation and propaganda.
Just the way liberalism wants it. Keep the sheeple from thinking and asking any inconvenient questions. The government, media and educational organizations (all run by the Democrat Party) have done their jobs to perfection. The American people are docile and easily manipulated.
"A system of government in which power is divided between a national (federal) government and various regional governments. As defined by the United States Constitution, federalism is a fundamental aspect of American government, whereby the states are not merely regional representatives of the federal government, but are granted independent powers and responsibilities. With their own legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch, states are empowered to pass, enforce, and interpret laws, provided they do not violate the Constitution. This arrangement not only allows state governments to respond directly to the interests of their local populations, but also serves to check the power of the federal government. Whereas the federal government determines foreign policy, with exclusive power to make treaties, declare war, and control imports and exports, the states have exclusive power to ratify the Constitution. Most governmental responsibilities, however, are shared by state and federal governments: both levels are involved in such public policy issues as taxation, business regulation, environmental protection, and civil rights. "
Until the comfort of "regular" Americans is disturbed by this march toward socialism, most people will not consider that being part of a cult has a significant "downside" ... that they will lose their liberty (which most take for granted and assume in their ignorance of history that libery and abundance are the "default" state of human societies), and that the resulting tyranny will eventually destroy their families and they will lose their property.
We are desperately in need of a leader ... not merely a skilled politician but a true statesman of the stature and character of a Reagan or a Churchill ... to defeat the brutal enemy within.
Correct.. but its a problem with the people themselves...
These faction believe its there right to be tyrants over others.
they no longer have any self-check on their action
the concepts, the ideal that the same natural laws that restrict government ....also restrict them...as and individual in their actions..and their wants and demands on the government and fellow citizens
.. Their a line went Libertarians can crossover in to being an Antichrist ....
its when a libertarian forget the same natural law that restricted government also restricts the individual....
and when’s that libertarian starts thinking no law... be it man made, Gods, natural, self evident or anything other then his personal want should govern him....that is when they become an anarchist ..(nothing or no one can or should tell them no)
Then they come something between a petulant child and and a full on tyrant demanding other bow to thier every want and whim
I was on a forum a few years ago, a lot of people including me did not really understand what Federalism meant. For all we know, if one asks someone if they support Federalism, they may think the exact opposite of its definition.
