I was a member of the Corps of Cadets at The Citadel the year we re-enacted the 100 year anniversary of the first shots of the Civil War (fired by members of the Corps of Cadets). We were all very proud of our heritage and history. We played Dixie after every touchdown, and had a Dixie flag painted on our water tower.

Just went back for our 50th reunion - Dixie is no longer allowed - and the spirit is waning.

But then, that is exactly the point, isn’t it!

Southern and Proud

I have a newspaper article from circa 1970’s stating the event where The Citadel placed a Confederate Battle Flag to fly in honor of the Cadets that gave their lives for the State. I noted the day before yesterday it was taken down.
