Agree, think about it from a limited government mindset. A "license" to get married? I would not think we should need a license to get married from any government entity state or local.

I wonder how this could affect the death tax?

If two people of the same sex can get a “fairy-marriage” and one of them kicks the bucket, then the other is treated as a traditional widow/widower ?

So does this mean that an unrelated nurse or related caretaker and a patient can get one of these newfangled licenses and be “married” even though there’s no sexual relationship, and the caretaker end up inheriting the house and such?
