Do you know any black people? Do you have black friends? And I’m not talking about ghetto thug trash and welfare queens, but the good ole Southern black person who is a good Christian and really a good ole boy just like other Southerners...?
The reason I say this is because I do. And we don’t sit around listening to rap or hip hop but these are guys I can talk frankly to and don’t see my every word and thought as racist and white privilege.
However, they do very much remember the flag waved in their face during those bad times 50 years or so ago, and it is a negative symbol with them.
Can’t we tone it down just a little, or at least agree that THE flag was used unfairly against them then?
Many blacks I speak with realize all the various nuances of the time before the War and what their peoples’ heritage was. My good black friend at Auburn U. is actually descended from one of the biggest WHITE plantation owners who was a Civil War Confederate Colonel. He’s got more “royalty” in his blood than me. Sometimes I call him “Massa”!

Too bad NASA’s budget is now going to “entitlements”.
I’m 65 years old and I grew up in North Carolina. So hell yes I have black friends. And guess what a few of them are in the Sons of Confederate Veterans with me and they listen to Hank Williams and George Jones. I wasn’t born in a ghetto and they weren’t either. And they had a mama and daddy growing up just like I did.
My black friends think these whole Confederate flap is a bunch of BS cooked up with race-baiters. And they’re exactly right.
