During the Civil War most fighting was done by standing in a field in a line and firing at some more idiots standing in a line across the field. No fitness other than the ability to stand up was required.

I am not 78 but I am near 77 and I can tell you that I am not fit for any kind of combat save defense of my home and only if they come slowly.

What do you suppose the age of the average Freeper to be?
