The reason why one state recognizes the marriage of someone married in another state is because of Article IV, Section 1. Take away the marriage license and you take away the Article IV protection where your marriage is concerned.
Your man-woman marriage is just as legally valid as a teacher marrying all the 10 year olds in his class.
