People really should see the battleground atop Lookout Mtn, TN.

They have huge memorials from the North and South. The movie show with very dramatic displays show how the battle took place.

I will not drop the dime on the Northern Captain that took it upon himself to attack the retreating flank. He forced the cannons of the surrendered to turn the cannons on those fleeing. Quite a time.

Although it's been many years, I visited Lookout Mountain. I haven't studied the Civil War for quite a while now, so although the story of the cannons sounds familiar, I can't recall who the Northern Captain was.

I used to visit Gettysburg 2-3 times a year, then head down to Antietam. I always preferred visiting the parks during the winter when the tourists weren't around. One of my most enjoyable visits was to Shiloh. It was early December, and I had the whole park practically to myself. The weather was sunny, and it was warm enough to not need a jacket.
