Funny thing is, with prohibition, people understood and practiced civil disobedience; and no doubt many elected officials partook of the forbidden spirits too.
Now, with an issue that is bigger, in terms of "fabric of society," the elected gutless wonder won't disobey. They are asserting that the order must be respected.
Not surprising. One day the house of cards will collapse, and they'll wish they had broken it down a little slower, in smaller chunks.
Scott Walker and the rest of what is left of humanity make a pathetic call for some semblance of sanity in our day to day lives. Go figure.
You do remember it took a war to ban slavery?
...you’re going to use a corrupt system to end the corruption?
Good luck with that.
“I thought that was what the tenth was?”
You would be right. All Scotty really has to do is just announce that WI will invoking the 10th amendment and will not allow gay marriage. That’s all the other states have to do. If most states just say no its over.
I’m sure Walker’s intentions are good, but with all due respect, are we supposed to ratify a new amendment to the Constitution every time the rouge Supreme court defies the Constitution with one of its decisions? If we were to pass an amendment to counter every decision by the Supreme Court in which they have defied the Constitution, we’d probably have to pass another 50 amendments. The problem is much deeper, and requires a more fundamental fix. Our Constitutional system is in crisis.
“There are only two ways to change this. One is a massive revival. The other is a coup. I pray for the first, and fear the second.”
It will be the second. And if that doesn’t happen, we will go the way of Europe, specifically Greece without Germany to rescue us.
Get Prepared
In another thread, we talked about that ;)
“Only massive disobedience can insure our freedom now.”
Armed disobedience.
I wish he would. Talk about an amendment is just that, talk.
Yes talk is cheap. But in all fairness our Governor is buckling under just like most if not all of the others.
Well....you've got to send him some money first....
lol
It’s a constitutionally legitimate method, but very likely impossible and a waste of effort and resources. The mountain is just as high as the left’s dream of invalidating the second amendment.
Let's see, California, Oregon, Washington, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Minnesota, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. That's thirteen States riddled with liberals that would never come even close to ratifying such an amendment.
Good luck with that.
And by the way, you "Article V" fools, this goes for you too.
Exactly.
And by the way, you "Article V" fools, this goes for you too.I scanned through the thread and didn't see any "article V" references
Apparently they think Article V is only for (s)electing senators and balanced budget amendments
...If necessary.
In an article I just read he said nine hours ago that the issue was settled as far as Wisconsin is concerned. We’ll see if he takes action. I hope so, we need everyone in the fight.
