I agree with the poster on this thread that put a lot of the troubles we are facing in our country on decades of over-use of drugs.

I believe that is the case.

I have seen what drugs do to people (without worrying about the word “dependent” which to me is totally arbitrary) and seen how stupid it makes them.

Actually he said "hooked on drugs" - hence my references to dependence.

Is alcohol one of the drugs whose overuse has contributed to the troubles we are facing in our country? If so, what should we do about that?
