Japan is very peculiar in some ways. Very driven to extremes for such locked down people, they do say you need to watch the quiet ones...
The rest of Japan must have been downwind from the drifting fallout from Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Before 1945 Japan was nothing but pray-obey-march-conquer-die for Emperor. Totalitarian but easy to understand.
Things have gotten very weird in Dai Nippon since then.
