The reenactments are rarely held on the actual battlefield. There’s a nearby private farm in Adams County that has similar terrain features thats used.
The Battlefield Park and town of Gettysburg do benefit financially from the reenacment. Maybe the reenactors should cancel it.

My father took me to Gettysburg in 1963 for the Centennial. Biggest ten day event I 'er did see. He let me pick a cap. I'm a Yankee but of course I picked a Johnny Reb cap with Confederate Flag on top. It blew off my head and out the window of the car on the long ride back home. My father never spoke a word, but he turned that car around and risked life and limb crossing several lanes of highway, and retrieved my Johnny Reb cap.
A couple of years ago I ordered one of each cap (blue and grey) from the Gettysburg Museum Catalogue for my nephew on his birthday.
