Fox News, which is said to have supported Beckel for years as he dealt with multiple addiction issues, has released a statement on the liberal hosts departure. According to Bill Shine, Executive Director of Programming, in a statement emailed to IJReview:
We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldnt hold The Five hostage to one mans personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him. Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera will be among those rotating on the show for the near future.
With Beckels departure, the search begins for a full-time replacement.

Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera? You must be joking. I quit FOX because of Juan racist liberal views. Couldn’t stand Jerry back in the 70s and can’t stand him now.
He was more watchable than any combination of Juan and Geraldo.”
Wholeheartedly agree. Haven’t watch FOX in months because of Juan, Geraldo, Rove and O’Reilly. Maybe they will all move to MSNBC or CNN.
Me too. I'm sick to death of their "Fair and Balanced" overkill. Fire all those bloviating buttheads and change the motto to:
FOXNEWS...a Fair Balance.
R.I.P.
yes indeed. Bickel at least seemed sincere and intelligent and had a sense of humor. I did not mind him being on the show, notwithstanding his runnning on two left rails.
Geraldo I can’t stand to watch, and same for Juan Williams (and I agreee, Juan could have been a very fine leftist commentator but comes across as a propagandist instead, due to his strenuous efforts to put a communistic spin on everything from apples to zebras)
When I say loudmouth, I mean he speaks loudest over the others, to shut them up, in a very grating way. So, you like him? Go watch MSSHT. They’re all just like Juan over there.
Instead of replacing Bob Beckel, FNC might have considered replacing the executive who made decision to terminate him (reportedly Bill Shine). I hope Beckel is able to challenge his termination in court. Even though The Five has other strong participants, Beckel was among the strongest, both individually and in his contribution to the dynamics of the group. To allow such a strong presence, and purportedly also a friend, to pass from the scene without comment on the program, lowers both my opinion of The Five as a program and my esteem for the program’s regular participants and producers. I think I’ll take a break from The Five for a while. They might not be able to attract her to such a program, but Kirsten Powers would add more to the lineup on The Five than any of the currently used liberal replacements for Beckel.
Powers would certainly be a superior representative of the liberal viewpoint than a post (Juan Williams).
