The point is when a tyrant takes over a free country and starts trampling on the rights of its citizens.

And then a portion of that country wants to split off to live free as they did before the tyrant came to power, THEY are the ones fighting to save the country as it was (only smaller) While the tyrant is fighting to enforce his NEW tyranny.
