I was working with a girl who moved here from Penn. because there were no jobs up there and she says to me......

‘You people have a church on every corner down here, don’t you.’

I was thinking ‘B!+<#, you need to take your yankee @$$ back up north where you came from.’

but, my Southern manners kicked in and I said.....

‘Yes sweetie, there are plenty for you to choose from, bless your heart.’

I'd rather get the honesty than the phony "manners."

Then please stay up North.

You can be honest and polite at the same time. Takes practice and is best taught during childhood. You can also teach an old Yankee knew tricks. Just takes a little longer because of the amount of knowledge already accumulated as opposed to a blank slate. I was born in the Bronx, grew up in suburbs of Philly, moved around a lot, Il, VT, NJ, south MO, NC.

I personally prefer living in places where people believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and know that after loving God with all your heart, you are to love your neighbor as yourself. If you need to learn to be polite, best place to start is with the person in the mirror, eh? Have a blessed day!
