The tragedy, the irony......these states left voluntarily, and the Federal Government invaded to force them back.....

The Southern states should have refused to come back. Remain occupied until another country invades the U.S. then the occupiers would have to be brought back home to defend their shores. The union army wasn’t strong enough to do both.
